Benjamin Coit was born on 28 Mar 1731 at Preston, New London County, Connecticut.[1]

He was a moderator of town meetings in 1775, 1776, and 1782; a Representative to the General Assembly in 1782 and 1783; and a Justice of the Peace during 1782 and 1783.[1]
