DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Coker-376 and Coker-248 do not represent the same person because: I don't believe theses are the same people
posted by Kathy (Brown) Lamm
Hi Kathy, I see what you mean. I changed the birth date on the 2 John's which was 1670. But John and Margaret never had a son named John because he would have been in the tithable list and the only son ever listed in the tithable list was William so he could not have had a son John born in 1670 so just who is he supposed to be? There are no other Coker's living in Surry County at this time. There is only one John and Margaret Coker who had a will in 1711 and 1721 respectively. John Coker is listed in the tithable list and his son William Coker is listed also. Then John Coker left property to his son William Coker and this property was to go to William's son John after his death. Then Margaret left property to her grandson John and her great grandson John in her will. The total that John Coker, the grandson received would have been 150 acres which he sold in 1741. This is the John Coker who died in Brunswick County in 1759. The great grandson John Coker died in Northampton County, North Carolina in 1778. And who is Ann supposed to be? Since you cannot delete John Coker I recommend removing his parents and then merging. Thanks, Beth

Coker-376 and Coker-248 appear to represent the same person because: Only one John Coker born in 1670 Surry County, Virginia. Mother is different but possibly can be resolved after the merge.
