Biography

Lizzie Coker (aka Eliza, Elizabeth) was born in 1870 in Peterborough, Northamptonshire, England to Frederick Coker and Elizabeth (Carter) Coker. Her birth was registered in Peterborough in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Carter.^[1]

In 1871 Eliza Boker [Coker] (age 0) lived in Peterborough with her father Frederick (29, Blacksmith) and mother Elizabeth (26).^[2]

In 1881 Elizabeth Coker (age 19[10], Scholar) lived at Jessamine Grove in Peterborough St John The Baptist with her father Frederick (38, Blacksmith), mother Elizabeth (35), and two sisters: Sarah J (9, Scholar) and Emma (8, Scholar).^[3]

In 1891 Eliza Coker (age 20, Drapers Assistant) lived in Peterborough with her father Frederick (49, Blacksmith), mother Elizabeth (47), and three sisters: Jane (19), Emma (18, Dressmaker), and Fanny (8, Scholar), as well as boarder W Battew (38, Clerk).^[4]

Lizzie Coker married Henry Cuttriss in 1892. The marriage was registered in Peterborough in the first quarter of the year.^[5]

Lizzie and Henry had two sons:

1. Stanley Jack Cuttriss (1894-1939)
2. Vincent Albert Cuttriss (1902-1974)

In 1901 Lizzie Cuttriss (age 30) lived in Shaftesbury, Dorset with her husband Henry (32, Manager Boot Shop) and son Stanley (7).^[6]

In 1911 Lizzie Cuttriss (age 41) lived in Peterborough with her husband Henry (43, Boot Maker) and two sons: Stanley (18, Engineers Pattern Maker) and Vincent (9, School), as well as her father Frederick Coker (70, Hawker Green Grocer).^[7]

Lizzie's husband passed away in 1917: "CUTTRISS Henry of 8 Queen-street Peterborough shoemaker died 18 August 1917 Probate Peterborough 18 September to Lizzie Cuttriss widow. Effects £310 6."^[8]

Lizzie Cuttriss passed away on 29 Dec 1942, aged 72 years. Her death was registered in Peterborough in the last quarter of the year.^[9]

"CUTTRISS Lizzie of 8 Queen-street Peterborough widow died 29 December 1942 at 16 Cambridge-avenue Peterborough Probate Peterborough 18 February [1943] to Vincent Albert Cuttriss leather dealer. Effects £1326 17s. 10d."^[10]
