Biography

Annetta "Nettie" Elizabeth Coldwell was born on 8 Oct 1853, probably in the Gaspereau District, King's, Nova Scotia, Canada. On the 1901 census, James's daughter Elizabeth, b. 8 Oct 1853, appears to be Nettie, as she is deaf, and Annetta/Nettie is shown on previous censuses as being deaf, dumb or of unsound mind.

In 1861, James Coldwell lived in Gaspereau District, King's, Nova Scotia, Canada. There were 2 males and 3 females in the family.[1]

In 1871, Annetta Coldwell lived in Gaspereau District, with her father, James H. Coldwell, a farmer, his wife Zylpha and 4 brothers and sisters.[2]

In 1881, Anetta Coldwell lived with her father, James Coldwell, a 52 year old farmer, his wife Margaret, a weaver, and 5 brothers and sisters in Gaspereau District.[3]

In 1891, James Coldwell, a 62 year old farmer, lived in Gaspereau District with his wife Margaret and two children, including 38 year old Nettie.[4]

In 1901, James H. Coldwell, a farmer, lived with his wife Margaret and a daughter Elizabeth in Grand Pré, Kings County, Nova Scotia.[5]

Note

The original information showed Nettie's birth as 1908, but also as the child of James Henry Coldwell. The only child of James called "Nettie" was Annetta Elizabeth "Nettie" Coldwell. For this reason, her birth date has been corrected. It is possible that 1908 was her death date, but I can find no information about her death.Watt-266 16:42, 24 December 2016 (EST)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Nettie by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Nettie:
