Biography

James was born 1830 in Gaspereaux, Kings, Nova Scotia, the son of John and Isabel Coldwell.[1]

James married in 1853 Delight Gertridge. Based on census and other records, they had at least the following children, all born at Gaspereau, Kings, Nova Scotia:

  • Owen William Coldwell, b. 1855; d. 1951, California, United States
  • Sophronia Arminella Coldwell, b. 1855
  • Eva Leandra Coldwell, b. 1861; d. 1863
  • ida Delight (Coldwell) Davidson, b. 1865
  • Leverett James Coldwell, b. 1873

In 1871, James L. Coldwell lived in Gaspereau, Kings, Nova Scotia, with his wife Delight and four children. James was a farmer.[2]

James L. Coldwell died by drowning on 28 March 1877 at Gaspereaux, Kings, Nova Scotia, Canada.[1]
