Biography
James E. Cole was born about 1839 in Middleton, Nova Scotia, to parents James Cole and Narcissa Burke. [1] [2]
James married Isabella Homes in 1863 in Milton, Queens County. They had 3 children:
- Horace Thorpe Cole 1865 - 1927
- Herbert Cole 1868 - 1868
- Bertha May (Cole) Johnson 1871 - 1953 [3]
Sadly, his wife Isabella passed away in 1879. [2] The birth date of Horace is 1865, not 1868 as indicated in Find a Grave. [4]
James married his 2nd wife, Lucy I. Smith in 1882. He was a 42 year old widower, she a 24 year old maiden. Lucy was born about 1858 in Port Medway to parents Geo(?) and Azubah Smith. [1]
No known children from second marriage?
James passed away in 1895. James and Isabella are on the same gravestone as his parents James and Narcissa Cole as well as a Dorcas Cole in Milton Cemetery. [2]
