Biography

Ambrose was born about 1700. Ambrose Cole ... Elizabeth Lincoln married Ambrose Cole in Scituate on 29th December 1720 and she died at the age of 21 years old[1]

Ambrose was the son of Ambrose and Silence (Wade) Cole

He had four marriages: first to Abigail Sutton, about 1715 at Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay - parents of James Cole

He then married his second wife Elizabeth Lincoln, daughter of Mordecai and Mary (Hobart) Lincoln, on 29 Dec 1720 at Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay - their children were Elizabeth and Amos Cole

In 1729, Ambrose was appointed guardian to his children, Elizabeth and Amos for their estate inherited from their mother.[2]

His third marriage was to Elizabeth Vinal in 1739 at Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay

His final marriage was to Mehitable Gould on 1 Feb 1748/9 at Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay

He is buried at Groveland Cemetery, Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

Probate

The will of Ambrose Cole of Scituate, yeoman was dated 8 April 1777 and proved on 2 June 1777 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife (but not by name), his son-in-law James Merrit (executor), and the children of his deceased son Amos (Ambrose Cole, Amos Cole, Polly Cole, and Elizabeth Cole). His inventory was taken on 2 June 1777 in Scituate.[3]

In 1778, an account of his estate by James Merritt was recorded which included debts received, debts paid, doctor in his last sickness, and administration fees.[4]

In 1782, a second account of his estate by James Merritt was recorded which included selling real estate, and debts paid. [5]
