Biography

1776 Project
Daniel Cole Sr. served with Frederick County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Daniel Cole was born about 1761 in Virginia or North Carolina.

He married Mary Dubose, daughter of Jacques (John) Dubose a French Huguenot, in about 1788 in Darlington, Cheraw District, South Carolina and they settled on the Santee River.

Daniel first shows up in a census in 1790 in Cheraw District, SC with himself, a female, presumably his wife and a male over sixteen.

In 1794 he was granted 370 acres on Lynches Creek in South Carolina near Jeptha and Elias DuBose.

In 1802 he was on the Jefferson County, GA tax rolls and in 1805 he drew in the 1st Land Lottery in that county.

In 1809 they were living in Pulaski County, Georgia and in 1812 he was Justice of Inferior Court of Pulasky County.

In 1819 they were on the tax rolls of Conecuh County, Alabama. They had five sons: John Mason, Noah, Thomas Delorum, Ransom, and Daniel P., Jr., and three daughters Margaret, Elizabeth, and Jennetta. The first five children were born in South Carolina and the final two in Jefferson, Georgia .

He died, at the age of 70, on March 10, 1832 in Catalpa, Alabama. He is buried at the Ebenezer First Cemetery, Catalpa, Pike County, Alabama.[1]

"Abstract of Revolutionary Pension Files" Daniel Cole S22182 Virginia Line. Soldier applied for pension 4/13/1833 Fayette Co., Pennsylvania., a resident of Union Township. Soldier born 1755 in Morristown, New Jersey and lived in Winchester at Frederick Co., Virginia at enlistment and after the war moved to eastern part of Pennsylvania for several years and then moved to Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. Date of pension 5/14/1833. Start of pension 3/4/1831 Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. 1800 Union Township., Fayette Co., Pennsylvania Census Daniel Cole (2 males under 10), 2 (males 10-16), 1 (male 26-45), 2 (females under 10), 1 (female 10-16), 1 (fem. 26-45)

Family history says Daniel and his wife lived and died in Pike County, AL and some descendants are buried in cemeteries in adjoining counties.
