  Cole, Jerry Lee Bay City, Michigan Jerry Lee Cole ("Bear"), age 78 died November 20th, 2014 at the Bay Regional Medical Center. Jerry was a native of Bay City who returned to establish the Merrill Lynch and later Cole Financial Group stock brokerages in downtown Bay City 25 years ago aftera career on Wall Street and in the aerospace industry in California. He was born Dec. 4, 1935 in Bay City, the son of the late William T. and Dursa L. (Powell) Cole. Mr. Cole graduated in 1954 from Central High School, where he had an outstanding football record as a halfback under legendary coach Elmer Engel. He was awarded a scholarship to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York, where he excelled in football and track. He also ran sprints at Madison Square Garden against the nation's best competition. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy. He moved to California where he was a manufacturing representative for Olin Mathieson, an aerospace firm. He later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California and worked for Wall Street firms Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. Mr. Cole served for over 20 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve retiring with a rank of Commander. Jerry was a dedicated son returning home to Bay City from the West Coast to care for his mother for many years after the death of his father. He was a devoted father who was actively involved in his children and grandchildren's lives all over the country. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey W. Cole (Paula), of Newport Beach, California; Bradley T. Cole (Yoko), of Los Angeles, California; Darren L. Cole, of New York City, New York, a daughter Jennifer C. McIntosh of Las Vegas, Nevada and Colin P. Cole of Kayenta, Arizona and a brother, Roger Cole (Malou), of Clio. Pre-deceasing Mr. Cole were his brothers William Cole and Benjamin Cole and sister Anne Beth Kinstrey. He also is survived by his loving companion of 11 years, Carolyn Buzzard of Bay City and grandchildren Alexandra Cole, Connor Cole,Nickolas McIntosh, Michael McIntosh, Sean Cole and Maya Cole. He was a member of the Bay City Lions Club, the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club, the "O" Club and was involved in several community improvement organizations. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday December 6, 2014 at 11 AM at All Saints Parish-St. Boniface Church, Bay City Michigan. Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera will officiate Celebrate Mass and private inurnment will be at St Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church only on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of Mass.
