Biography

1776 Project
Captain Nathaniel Cole served with Church's Regiment, Continental Army during the American Revolution.

NATHANIEL COLE 1759-1846
Ensign and CAPTAIN in Revolutionary War

Nathaniel Cole was born on the 20th of November, 1759 in Warren, Rhode Island to Isaiah Cole 1731-1811 who married Eleanor Nichols, daughter of Samuel Nichols of Kinderhook, New York in 1750.

Nathaniel's parents, Isaiah and Eleanor Cole were the parents of:

  • 1 - Abigail Cole 1752–1757
  • 2 - Elizabeth Cole 1753–
  • 3 - Andrew Cole 1755–1841
  • 4 - James Cole 1757–1758
  • 5 - NATHANIEL "Ensign" "Capt" Cole 1759–1846
  • 6 - Samuel Cole 1760–
  • 7 - Abigail Cole 1763–1834
  • 8 - Mary Cole 1765–1840

On October 17, 1784 Nathaniel Cole 1759-1840 married Nancy ANTHONY 1762-1828, who was born in Swansea, Massachusetts on the 24th of January 1762. According to the Massachusetts Town & Vital Records Nathaniel and Nancy - (given name of ANNA on record) were married on JULY 24 not January. The date given as January may be due to their abbreviating: Jany - it resembles July. Remember reading the antique handwriting is difficult sometimes.

Children of Capt. Nathaniel and Anna Cole:

  • 1 - James Cole 1785–1871
  • 2 - Judith Ann Cole 1788–1856
  • 3 - William Cole 1790–1872
  • 4 - Samuel Cole 1792–1864
  • 5 - Thomas Cole 1794–1869
  • 6 - Abigail Cole 1796–1876

Nathaniel Cole was a Patriot of the Revolution. [1]
