Mary was born about 1798 in Grayson, Russell County, Virginia. She is the daughter of Peter Coleman and Charlotta Thompson.

She married Howard Milton Adkins 19 July 1818 in Floyd County, Kentucky.

Mary is listed with her husband with five kids in the residence on the 1850 Census in Morgan County, Kentucky.^[1]
