Biography

Edward Coleman married Margaret Lombard October 27, 1648, in Eastham, Massachusetts.[1] Margaret was baptised on 06 March 1623 in Thorncombe, Dorset, England, the daughter of Thomas Lombard[2]

Edward's birth year is estimated based on his marriage date, assuming that was his first marriage. His marriage record identifies him as "of Boston."[3]

Thomas Lombard's will, dated 23 March 1662/3 and proved 7 March 1664/5, gave his son-in-law Edward Coleman one acre of land, and to his daughter Margarett Coleman the first living colt.[4]

Edward Coleman's estate was inventoried on 28 September 1691, and included a dwelling house valued at £10, and no other real estate. "Margett Coleman" his widow made oath to the inventory on 21 October 1691 in Barnstable County Probate Court.[5][6]

Research Notes

No sources have yet been found to show that Edward was the son of Thomas Coleman, nor have any sources been found to show that his mother was Frances Belcher or Frances Albright. If quality sources showing his parentage appear in the future, the appropriate parents will be added back to his profile. Madison-125 02:12, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Not found in the Great Migration Directory. I'm not finding evidence that Edward Coleman arrived in New England by 1640. The earliest primary record I find is his marriage in 1648, where he was of Boston.

Is there an earlier record of him that suggests he should remain as a PGM managed profile?

Lacking any evidence of a pre-1640 arrival, I have removed PGM as his co-manager. This can be revisited if further documentation comes to light.
