Various sources, including Mary Jane's obituary. her gravestone, various census reports differ on Mary Jane's DoB and DoD. The Find-a-grave memorial, another Wikitree genealogist, and my own research strongly support the DoB as June 17, 1848 and DoD of April 12, 1923. petersen-1298
Family Search shows this person connected to Willard Coleman 1822–1876 • LDMD-NDJ.
The connection seems possible, but not certain.
Based on a handwritten, combined pedigree/family-group chart prepared by kendrick-718 in about 1970. That chart I was able to supplement by interview with Grandpa Kendrick and recorded this subjects information on a family group sheet for the unknown parents of John and Mary Ann Congrove.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
*"United States Census, 1880," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MD2H-679 : accessed 15 Oct 2014), Mary Congrove in household of John Congrove, Yellow Springs, Des Moines, Iowa, United States; citing sheet 25D, NARA microfilm publication T9. <b> Ages of Mary (33) and John (47) in this census are consistent with grandpa's statement that Mary was much younger than John. It also casts doubt on the 1870 census record from Ohio that I have also cited.

Mary Anne was younger than John, enough to be remarked on by grandpa Kendrick-718. She was said to have drawn a pension from Johns service as a high officer in the Civil War. I have searched Ammans' Personnel of the Civil War and found no record of a general officer named John Congrove.~~~~
