Biography

Sirena was born in 1833. She was the daughter of William Coleman and Sarah Ogden. She passed away about 1880.

John C. Hennigan on the 1850 Census of Jackson Parish with his second wife (Sarah) Sirenia Coleman who he married in ca 1849, and the children by his first wife. Sirenia Coleman is 16 years old when she marries John C. Hennigan. They appear in Louisiana Census 1850 as John Henigan 39 male white farmer born NC, Sarah wife 17 female white born Ala., daughter Mary 11 female white born Ala., John son 10 male white born Miss. (Casualty in Confederate prison), Hiram A. son 6 male white born Miss., and Joshuel C. son 4 male white born Miss. All of his children by former wife have left home before the 1860 Jackson Parish Census being taken. All records of these children by first wife show Mary Weeks as guardian (per Records furnished by Loberta Youngblood), so seems Mary married William Weeks and raised children (siblings) until they left home. I cannot find Mary in the 1860 Census but find her enumerated in 1870 Census Bienville as Wm. Weeks and family age 35 farmer born Ala., Mary Weeks age 30 born Ms., Elizabeth 16, William 15, John H. 14, Martha 13, and Annie 3 months old and all born La. The 1860 Census Jackson Parish list them as John C. Henigan 50 years old male, born NC. Sirenia is 27 years old female, born Alabama. Rebecca is a 10 years old female, born Alabama . Henry is 3 years old male born Ala. (should be La.) Joseph W. is 3 months old male, born Ala. (should be La). One other daughter is attributed to this marriage, Laura whose birth date I find from sources as being anywhere from 1865 to 1867 in La. John C. Hennigan's death has to be ca. 1869 or before the 1870 Census. The record of enlistment for the John C. Hennigan that died in Camp Morton indicates he was 21 years of age when he enlisted and was a resident of Clarke County Ms. This was the son of John C. Hennigan Sr. and his first unknown wife.
