Martha passed away on the 16 Jul 1959 in Albany, Linn, Oregon.[1]
Martha was 1/4 cherokee Indian. A closer spelling of her maiden name I "Collaque". My uncle's (Robert Hamilton) sister Lena told me on 1/23/92 that her father was unable or found writing "Q's" to difficult so instead used a "k", therby changing "Collaque" to "Collake".
Martha's father was 1/2 Cherokee and "Collaque" was undoubtedly the white man's original effort to translate the Indian sound for the name into an anglicized (English) word. Martha's father's name was Crawford Collake or Collaque.
