Ref: Book: Beyond the Lines or A Yankee Loose in Dixie by CPT J.J. Geer Available on-line: Details of author's escape from temp POW prison, w/ assistance of slave. LT A.P. Collins escaped together and were shackled together. Their experiences, recaptured. Threatened w/ being hung as spies, if they weren't the escaped Yankee prisoners. The author gives some sermons about abolition and the evils of slavery before he gets back to the story line. They were later exchanged prisoners. c. 1864 and available on-line.
