Biography

Cassie Jane Collins was born October 2, 1884, in Emanuel County, Georgia, the daughter of William Collins and Margrett Moseley Collins^[1].

She married Shadrack L. Emanuel, Jr. 27 June 1903 in Emanuel County, Georgia^[2].

In 1920 they lived in Oak Park, Emanuel County with their children Sarah, Ann, and brother David Emanuel^[3].

She was mentioned on Shadrack's death certificate when he died in 1922^[4].

She lived with her daughter Annie Barber and family in Metter, Candler County, Georgia in 1940^[5].

She died 29 June 1959 in Metter, Candler County, Georgia^[6][7] and was buried in Cool Spring Cemetery, Candler County, Georgia^[1].

Obituary

Mrs. Cassie Emanuel, 74, of Metter, a native of Emanuel County, died in the Candler Hospital Monday after a short illness. A resident of Candler County for the past 25 years, she was the widow of S. L. Emanuel and a member of the Corinth Free Will Baptist Church near Oak Park. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Barber of Metter and Mrs. Sarah Lariscey of Augusta; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Angie Strange of Vidalia; Mrs. R. P. Dellinger of Homestead, Florida; Mrs. J. M. Driggers of Metter; Mrs. Otis Collins of Lyons, and Mrs. Ned Cannady of Metter; three brothers, M. L. Collins, Lee Collins and Dewey Collins, all of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Cool Spring Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Inman Gerald and the Reverend Carl Baker. Burial was in the church cemetery.
