Sarah Ellen Collins was born December 15, 1858 in Tattnall County, Georgia, the daughter of Newton Collins and Nancy Ann Jane Mixon Collins[1]. In 1870 she lived in Tattnall County with her parents and siblings[2]. She lived with her grandmother Nancy Keen Collins in Cobbtown, Tattnall County in 1880[3].

In 1900 they lived in Cobbtown with their children Amanda, Newton, Lewis, Tommie, Fannie, Vick, and Nathan's aunt, Fannie Cobb[5]. Still in Cobbtown in 1910, they had their children Louis, Thomas T., Fannie, Vickey, and Eliza living at home[6]. By 1920, only Lewis still lived at home with them[7].
She died March 22, 1922, in Cobbtown, Tattnall County, Georgia, her cause of death cited as 'seizure of gall bladder'[8]. She was buried in Hebron Cemetery, Cobbtown, Tattnall County, Georgia[1].

She is mentioned on her son Newton Melvin Cobb's death certificate[9].
