Eliza P. Collins McLean

Birth: Feb. 3, 1840 Death: Jun. 11, 1888

Daughter of James P. Collins and Amelia Vann Collins. Born in Jacksonville, Madison County, Tenn. Moved with the family to Crockett, Houston County, Texas in 1854. Met and married William McLean. Eliza and William McLean raised a large and influential family.

Their oldest daughter Mary married Judge W.A. Davis, for several terms, County Judge of Houston County. Jennie married William V. McConnell. A most singular coincidence is that Mary and Jennie died the same day, 3 Feb 1888, and were buried the same day in the same cemetery. A funeral card issued by the family reads "In Loving Remembrance of Two sisters, Jennie and Mary McLean, consorts (wives) of W.V. McConnell and W.A. Davis. Died in Crockett, Texas 8 Feb 1888, age respectively 20 and 27 years." Another daughter, Eulah, married Rev. Riall, and died recently at her home in Grapeland. She was mother of our well known citizen, William Alfred Riall. After the death of her sister Jennie McLean Mcconnell, Daisy McLean married William V. Mcconnell.

Eliza is laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Texas with her family.
