The name of the wife of William Wilson, gentleman of Welbourn, Lincoln, has not yet been identified. [1] Some online family trees have her maiden name as Collins, but there is no documentation available to prove this.
Her son, Rev. Dr. William Wilson, canon at St. George's Chapel, Windsor, in his last will and testament, named " To my cousin Collins, prebendary at Rochester." This cousin's full name was William Collins (also Collens). He served prebendary at Rochester from 1605 through 1615. He died in 1615. "His patent was reversionary, but he succeeded to the Stall vacant by the death of Dr. Fitch.[2] William Collins (Collens), of Oxfordshire, was a graduate of Oxford, Brasenose College, matriculated 9 December 1586 at age 20; B.A. from St. Edmund Hall 24 March 1590. [3]
Mrs. Wilson's husband, William Wilson, was styled a gentleman, born about 1515, who removed from Penrith and settled at Welbourn, Lincoln. "He acquired considerable estate." William died at Windsor Castle August 27, 1587, and his remains were buried at St. George's Chapel, Windsor.[4]
