Biography

John Collins Jr. was born about 1667 in Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia, British Colonial America. He was the son of John Collins Eleanor Oliver.

He died in 1748 at the age of 81 Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia. He was buried at St. Luke's Cemetery, in Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia where his parents John and Eleanor Collins are also buried. According to his bio in FindaGrave he was married to Mary Wyatt, the daughter of Nicholas Wyatt and Frances Egbrough in 1680. She was born about 1670 in Prince George County, Virginia and died in 1745 in Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia, at the age of 74-75. She was buried at St. Lukes Cemetery, in Smithfield, Isle of Wight County, Virginia. ^[1]

• Henry Collins was born in Virginia, June 13th, 1772. He was the son of Richard Collins who married Sarah Gatewood, both born in Virginia.
• His paternal grand­ father, John Collins (of Welsh ancestry) and his wife, Catherine Crutcher, were also born in the Old Dominion.
• When Henry was between fifteen and eighteen, about the year 1788, the Collins family moved to Kentucky, settling on the North Elkhorn river, in Scott county, near George­ town. ^[3]
