Biography

Robert Collins was born in 1905 [1] in Queensland, Australia, the son of Francis James Collins & Alice Stuttard.

Robert "Bob" Collins was accidentally electrocuted whilst working at Mount Isa Mines, Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia on 26th October 1934. His funeral was held on Saturday afternoon 27th October 1934 & was largely attended by fellow workers, and members of the Buffalo Lodge. Speaking at the graveside, the Rev. W. J. Hobbin said: "Bob Collins had found that which made life glow. His character was one to be honored, and he had filled in the pages of his life, grandly. Though suddenly, and all too soon, his life here closed, but his loved ones could find comfort and cheer in the record of a life well lived because of his unselfishness and loyalty to lofty ideals." Robert Collins was about 29 years old, and had been in Mt. Isa nearly five years. Mr. Collins possessed a particularly quiet and unassuming nature, and those who knew him intimately found him to be a true friend, a man of strong principles, and noble character. [2] [3] [4] [5]
