Biography

John Collins immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

John son of Henry Collins of Ratcliffe Higheway, Starchmaker, and Anne 22 Jan 1631 aged 8 days at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney. [1][2]

John Collins married Abigail Johnson, daughter of Richard and Alice, at Lynn, likely 1655 based on the birth of their first child.[3]

John Collins died at sea, along with his son John, about 22 Dec 1679.[3]

John died intestate. The probate court approved the arrangement worked out by his survivors, under which his widow received the movable estate valued at 111 pounds and his eldest sons Samuel & Joseph, when of age, were to share equally in the real estate, valued at 255 pounds, care for their mother, and pay their siblings (Benjamin, Daniel, Nathaniel, & John and Elizabeth, Mary, Hannah, Lois, & Alice) ten pounds each, sister Abigail Townsend already having received her portion.[3]

Collins-6169 is a correct son. There was a son John who died with his father John. Collins-6169 was born William, but went by John once his father and older brother had died.

Collins-28993 is a duplicate created yesterday. It initially came in without any dates, so it didn't match Collins-6169. Once a spouse was added, it was clear they were duplicates. No sources are on-28993.
