Charles Collins was born in Warwickshire, England.

Early Life

Charles Collins was born before 31 Dec 1873 in Aston, Warwickshire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of tailor Thomas Collins and Ann Maria Holt. [1] He was baptised in April 1874 in the parish of Aston.

Charles was one of 10 children of Thomas Collins from his first and second marriages.

Marriage and Children

Charles married Alice Pearce at Christ Church in the Parish of Sparkbrook in Birmingham in May 1901.

He is noted as aged 27 working as a fork maker living at 36 Sampson Road, father Thomas Collins tailor. His wife Alice Pearce is noted as aged 24 the daughter of Ambrose Pearce, leather worker.

They had the following children:

Alice Lavinia Collins 1902–1974 married Alf Wright in 1940.

Charles Collins 1903 married Edith.

Gladys Collins 1905 married Ernest Cook in 1933.

Thomas Collins 1907 married Leah.

Ethel Collins 1908 married William Twelftree in 1932.

Harry Collins 1911–1989 married Iris Wells in 1938.

George Collins 1914 married Doris Eacock in 1940.

Marjorie E Collins 1917–2006 married Arthur Hornsby in 1938.

Census

Charles is noted as a scholar in the 1881 Kings Norton census, a bicycle maker in the 1891 Bordesley census.

He is a boarder in Hendon, Middlesex in the 1901 census working as a white smith.

In the 1911 census he is noted as a tool maker in a cycle works aged 35 living at 606 Bordesley Green, Birmingham with his wife Alice and children Alice, Charles, Gladys, Thomas and Ethel.

Charles is also noted in the electoral register from 1920 to 1939 living at 147 Oldknow Road.

Death

It is unknown when Charles died but most likely during the war years.
