Anna Collins was born in Brimfield, Massachusetts, on February 25, 1746-7, the daughter of Nathaniel Collins and Phebe Weld.[1][2][3] She was a twin with her sister Tabitha, who appears to have died young.[4]
She married first, Asa Putnam, in Brimfield on July 24, 1766. They soon removed to Brattleboro, Vermont. The couple had nine children. The oldest three were born in Warren, Massachusetts, the youngest three in Brattleboro, likely the rest were born there as well.[1][5][6][7]
Sewall or Sewell Putnam, born September 23, 1786; married Rebecca Shepard; died March 21, 1876.[14]
Sylvia Putnam, born May 25, 1789; married February 11, 1811, Zane A. Hamilton, of Aurora, New York; died October 2, 1883, at Cattaraugus, New York.[15]
Her husband, Asa, died in 1795 when she was 49. They had been married for 29 years.
In about 1797, she brought her three youngest children, Sewell, Sylvia, and Harvey, to Williamstown, Massachusetts, where her oldest son, Perley, had already settled and married Polly Simonds, a daughter of Colonel Benjamin Simonds of Williamstown. On November 4, 1798, she entered into a contract of marriage with Colonel Simonds, bringing her young children into his family.[6][17]
Anna (Collins-Putnam) Simonds died in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on April 3, 1807, at the age of 60. Her husband, Benjamin, died just 8 days later. Both were buried at Westlawn Cemetery in Williamstown, where Anna's gravestone reads:[18]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Anna by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Anna:
Collins-30457 and Collins-6773 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, dates (1746 vs. 1747 - 1807). Different married name "Smith" may be a typo. Possibly confusion with daughter Seraphina (Putnam) Smith.
The dates (1746-1807) are about right for the Anna Collins who married 1st Asa Putnam, however that Anna did not marry anyone named "Smith," she married 2nd Benjamin Simonds. Therefore, I intend to propose that we merge your Anna with Collins-6773.
