ANNA GUNELIA COLLINS STUECKLE, 86, a longtime Colfax, WA resident, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 14th at Walla Walla General Hospital in Walla Walla,WA. Anna was born Feb. 14, 1923 on the Tunis Homestead in Montana a daughter of William E. & Anna Gunelia (Evjen) Collins. She grew up in Montana where she attended school until moving with her family to Colfax, where Anna graduated from Colfax High School. Anna was legally adopted in her later years of growing up by Ralph & Vera Mader who were extremely influential in her life. Anna married Edwin Arthur Stueckle on June 8, 1941 in Colfax. They made the Dusty, WA area their home before moving to Colfax in 1955 where Anna was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Anna also spent time working outside the home including Rogers Brother Seed, a kitchen aid at the Elementary School, a receptionist at the Curly Top Salon and a sales clerk at the Stitching Shop & Anderson’s Bakers. She was a devoted member of the Colfax Church of the Nazarene. Anna was the family historian who enjoyed working on genealogy. She always provided a warm home for her family and so enjoyed cooking and baking. She is survived by her children and their spouses Terry & Michele Stueckle of Pasco, WA; Roger & Judy Stueckle of Pendleton, OR; Gunelia & Jerry Fowler of Boise, ID; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild; one sister Viola Collins Williams and a very special friend Shelby Mitzimberg. Anna was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, her parents 3 sisters and 3 brothers. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at the Dusty Cemetery. The memorial service will follow at 1 PM, on Monday at the Colfax Church of the Nazarene. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax is caring for the family.
