Biography

Betsy was born about 1811 in Kentucky to unknown parents. In 1838 she married Aaron Collins (1814-1864)^[1] and they had eight children:

1. Isaac (abt.1839-abt.1840)
2. Eliza Jane (abt.1841-abt.1905)
3. Mary (Polly) (abt.1842-abt.1907)
4. Levi Zeke (abt.1846-1916)
5. Susan (aft.1847-abt.1912)
6. Isaiah (abt.1850-abt.1930)^[2]
7. Thornton (1851-1908)
8. Sintha (aft.1853-abt.1925)^[3]

Aaron died sometime during the Civil War, about 1864. It is believed that he was killed by confederate soldiers. "During the Civil War, more casualties occurred because of bushwhackers and guerrilla warfare than because of any actual battles."^[4] Betsy didn't remarry. She died sometime before 1900.
