John Combe was christened on 15 Aug 1602 in St. Mary the Virgin Aldermanbury, London, England.[1] He was the son of John Combe and Margaret Archdale.[1]
Early Years
John's mother died in St. Mary Aldermanbury, London, when he was about fourteen years old, and he was named in the estate in 1616.[1] At seventeen, on 15 October 1619, he matriculated as "John COMBE of London, son of a gentleman," to Trinity College, Oxfordshire.[1] His cousin, Joseph Alvey, aged 19, son of a clerk (rector), also matriculated to Trinity on the same day.[1] Joseph was the son of Alice (Archdale) Alvey and her husband, Arthur Alvey of Knotting, Bedfordshire.[1] Alice was the cousin of John's mother, Margaret (Archdale) Combs. John's borther, William, also named Joseph Alvey in his 1629/30 Oxfordshire will.[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Combe-41 and Combe-12 do not represent the same person because: One (41) was only a year old at death. Later birth of brother (12) 2 years later that survived. Not an uncommon evevt.
Combe-41 and Combe-12 appear to represent the same person because: Combe-41 is relatively close in dates, and do match the place (baptism?). #41 lacks other details, and auto source.
