  • Obituary:

WIFE DIES IN HOME WHILE HER HUSBAND IS ILL IN HOSPITAL. (Special to The Argus-Leader). Alexandria, Feb 3--While C.L. Combs, who is a patient at a Mitchell hospital, has been asking questions about his wife, and wondering why she did not come to see him, little did he realize what the answer to his questions would be.

For the past three weeks Mrs Combs had been ill with influenza. Within the last few days, pneumonia set in, ad resulted in her death yesterday morning.

Mr Combs is receiving treatment at the hospital for cancer of the stomach, and was in such a weakened condition, that it was not thought advisable to tell him of his wife's illness. After consultation with the doctors however, he was told of his wife's death. He is in a critical condition, and is not expected to live more that a few days.

Mrs Combs, with her husband, was a pioneer resident of Hanson county, and had made her home in Alexandria for a number of years. Mr Combs is a retired farmer, and is well known in this vicinity. THE DAILY ARGUS-LEADER, Sioux Falls, S.D. 03 Feb 1923 Sat page 3
