Biography

Henry Coomes is the second son of Francis Ignatius Coomes, Sr. and his first wife Cassandra (Culver) Coomes

In 1844, Henry's elder brother, Francis married a widow with two daughters. Henry married one of the daughters and his younger brother, Joshua married the other.

In 1807, Henry married Winifred Ann Lewis, daughter of William Lewis and Sarah Stewart (Lewis) Coomes.

Henry and his brothers moved to Kentucky, along with their sister Drusilla, who had married in Hardy County, West Virginia. Their other sister, Elizabeth, who also married in Hardy County, remained there with her husband.
