John William Combs was born about 1761 in Colony of Virginia.
John (21) married Sarah Bird (16) (born about 1766 in New Castle County, Delaware; daughter of John Bird Jr. and Sarah (Tussey) Bird) in 1783 in Prince William, Virginia. Their children were:
- Byrd Combs (~1785–~1841)
- John William Combs (~1790–1870)
- Polly Combs (~1794– )
- Stephen Combs (~1798–~1875)
John died on March 22, 1800 in Surry County, North Carolina, United States, aged 38.
