[Feldman.FTW] Info on Matthew Combs, Sr. provided by J. Pat Downard who said he lived with son Henry after going blind. Lived with different children. Had 120 gallons of peach brandy and sold 50 cents/gallon. It was shipped down river to Boonesboro and hauled to Winchester, KY. Annabelle Combs in 1938 story Random Notes on Breathitt's Combs Family (reprinted in Breathitt Co. Journal in Winter 1990-91) states that in 1828 Matthew and Fannie lived on a farm in Troublesome Creek until he went blind and they "broke up household" and lived with their children.

here are pages and pages of tax rolls, census, births, deaths, land holdings, marriages of combs families in Breathitt county, Kentucky from 1840 to 1930-:[1][2]

Matthew was born about 1790. He is the son of Henry Combs and Rachel Clements. His Grandfather was Benjamin Clements, II (1736-1813) & Mary (Baker?) was his Grandmother. ( From at least 1788 to 1790, according the Tax lists for Montgomery County, Virginia, Matthew's father Henry was living in Montgomery County, Virginia and by 1793 he was living in Wythe County, VA. So, Matthew was most likely born in one of those two Counties. So, I have put his birth place in Montgomery Co., IL, until new evidence shows me different.

Combs-3694 and Combs-2343 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, close birth estimate, same parents, same spouse, close death estimate, same death state. Can his birth state be resolved so that these two profiles can be merged? Thank you!
