Biography

George was born in December 1797, in Perry County, Kentucky, to Mason Combs and Jane Richardson. He married Sarah Whitaker and together they had seven children:

  1. Susan Combs, b. abt. 1829, md. Samuel Napier
  2. Margaret "Peggy" Combs, b. 9 Oct 1832, d. 7 Feb 1905, md. Carlo Combs
  3. Granville Combs, b. abt. 1834
  4. Louvenia "Vina" Combs, b. Jan 1830, md. William Evans, md. Isaac K. Baker
  5. Sarah Jane Combs, b. 25 Nov 1835, d. 15 Feb 1886, md. William Mason Combs
  6. Jefferson Combs, b. Nov 1837, md. Minerva Eversole
  7. Nickolas Combs, md. Eliza Williams

George passed away on February 22, 1882, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, and was buried at the Combs Cemetery in Jackson.
