George was born in December 1797, in Perry County, Kentucky, to Mason Combs and Jane Richardson. He married Sarah Whitaker and together they had seven children:
Jefferson Combs, b. Nov 1837, md. Minerva Eversole
Nickolas Combs, md. Eliza Williams
George passed away on February 22, 1882, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, and was buried at the Combs Cemetery in Jackson.
