Biography

I was born in Louisville, KY. My father is from Hazard, KY and my mother from Louisville, KY. I have Y-DNA tested to 700 markers on Family Tree DNA. My Haplogroup is I-FT82308 or I2a1b1. I have also Autosomal DNA tested and MtDNA (K1c1b) tested. My tree on this site has errors I am sure of it, but so does yours, lol. I have noticed my tree has been butchered since I have joined and uploaded it to this site by allowing some to merge. I want to make a statement on my tree of some of my beliefs that differ from others except mine has been supported by documentation and theirs is from a 50 year old book known now to have significant errors. Here goes..1. Jamestown John Combs is not the patriarch of the I Haplogroup Combs line in America. He is a ghost, figment, a long held false belief. 2. Archdale Combs was the first Combs of this line that we know of to come to the English Colonies and that was in the early 1660's. He was born in England not here in the Colonies and his parents John & Elizabeth never made the journey over. (As far as Archdale's age, marriage(s), Draper Apprenticeship, children) Those are still debated and everyone has their opinion and I have my own but it is not a hill to die on. 3. Nicholas "Danger Nick" Combs WAS a brother of the 8, he was not their uncle. He WAS not born in 1737, but in 1760 +/- a couple years and did not die in 1837 but not until 1857-59. But But But....The marker in Hazard says...The MARKER IS WRONG!!! Just because something is etched in stone or cast in metal it doesn't make it so. Sources are good, but they aren't always the gospel truth. I have seen errors on Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, Gravestones, Census's, Marriage Certificates. Nothing is beyond reproach. I am tired of being asked where are my sources! My tree is 35K plus people, I uploaded it to here, I didn't create it here. My sources are linked to my main tree that I update on Ancestry.com. If you are one of those who like those little leafs on ancestry that link to others tree's and you just copy away without even checking their accuracy, don't bother asking me for help. Your the reason those trees and these trees on here are a mess in the first place. My tree has been privatized due to this problem. I will, I do and I like to help and compare notes with others, but only if they have done their own legwork first. I am not building your tree, unless you pay me. If any of you that are reading this are a Male Combs or have a Male Combs relative, please get a Y DNA test done, at least 111 marker test or higher when you can. Not every one of us can trace our line back uninterrupted, there is illegitimacy, adoption, orphaning and other types of road blocks in every tree. The more of us that get a Big Y 700 marker test, the better we can compare and see where mutations occurs along the different Combs branches. Like my tree for instance, I know 100% that I am a Combs and I can trace my line back with absolute certainty to 1887, and theoretically with strong circumstantial evidence back to England. But I have a some doubts as to my great grandfather's father, since my great grandpa was born out of wedlock and there is no documentation of who his biological father was. All I know is he was illegitimate himself since my great grandfather went by the surname "Hurt" for at least 15 years. I have two theories which cannot be proven unless I find a male descendant of Joe Hurt to compare DNA too. But that's a long story.

Thanks, I knew Hiram was Roberts father but didn't know how to fix it as Barbara Wisdom manages Robert Clinton Combs. I made it to Greasy Creek Cemetary but haven't yet been to Brashears. My dad's family Are all buried at Patrick. Question for you, do you and your family give everyone a nickname? My family does and I notice our ancestors do. Thanks again
I see you added the DNA tag to your profile. Here are a few links & tips to help you along in the journey of WikiTree and DNA.

It's not hard to add DNA test information to profiles on WikiTree, just make sure you add the tests to the actual test participant's profile & set the Privacy to ‘Private w/ Public Biography & Family Tree’ to show the tester's part of our tree. For help see  How to DNA on WikiTree

All of my Mifsud sources are from relatives that are still in Malta or living in Australia and Indiana. Maltese Marriage records can be found at this site along with names of their parents- http://en.geneanum.com/malta.html

Thanks! Yes, strange things seem to happen on Wikitree sometimes. I really enjoy the collaborative approach, but sometimes there are problems. I just hope I solve more than I cause!

Would appreciate your help in completing merge between Combs-482 & Combs-435.

Thanks, Shirley

Rick,

Merges between Combs-1051 & Combs-443 and between UNKNOWN-137216 & Butler-5907 need to be completed before descendant merges can be completed. You have approved the descendant merges, now need to approve and complete these merges.

Thanks, Shirley

Hi Rick,

Don't worry I can fix it. Can you please send me the link to the profile that is messed up?
