Community Projects

WikiTree is a tool for families and friends to organize and preserve their own history. However, some WikiTreers have a broader interest in history. Many of us are interested in topics that go beyond our own personal family and friends.

Here are special projects that leaders in the WikiTree community have undertaken. Would you like to be a part of one of them? We'd love your help. Jump right in, or simply contact Chris Whitten to say you're interested.

Do you have other ideas for special projects? We can list them on this page.

Historical People
This is a basic index of historically-significant people and celebrities who are profiled on WikiTree. When you add someone famous, we need to add them here.

US Presidents and their Families
We are building a directory of family histories for all the American presidents. There is a lot of work still to be done.

Surname Histories
This is an index of last names. Each page has a variety of basic information about the origins of the surname, geographic centers, famous people and places, etc. Start a page for your own last name.

World War 2 WikiMuseum
If one of your family members served in World War 2 enter them on this page.

The Great Depression
Do you have personal memories from the depression? Did your parents or grandparents tell stories about living through those years? Post your stories here.

Mayors of New York City
Biographies of NYC mayors.

If you're interested in connecting with people in your local community post a message on this history clubs page.
