Biography
Margaret Compton was born the 22nd of March 1836, in Beaufort County, South Carolina.[1] Margaret was the daughter of William Compton and Ann.
Margaret, age 14, appears in the 1850 Federal census in Beaufort County, South Carolina in the household of her father, William Compton.[2]
Margaret, age 25, appears in the 1860 Federal census in Beaufort County, South Carolina in the household of her mother, Ann.[3]
Margaret married Lorenzo Tyson on the 5th of September, 1864 in Chatham County, Georgia.[4]
Margaret's husband Lorenzo Tyson died the 12th of November, 1876, in Savannah, Georgia.[5]
Margaret married Lemuel C. Downs on the 14th of January, 1880 in Savannah, Georgia.[6]
Margaret, age 62, appears in the 1900 Federal census in Chatham County, Georgia with her husband Lemuel C. Downs. Margaret and Lemuel Downs are living in a boarding house.[7]
