She was a daughter of Samuel Compton. Her mother is unknown.

She married Joseph in Loudon County, VA. on 12 Jan. 1769.

On 7 March 1845 Sally made her last will and testament. Abstract follows: Item: I give and bequeth to my son-in-law Thomas Martin and his wife Theodotia for their kind treatment, care and attention to me in my late affliction all and every part of my estate whatsoever which I am now in possession of or may fall to me as a pensioner of the United States. Exe. Thomas Martin Test. John Joyce, L.H. Dalton and Js. Scales.

Her Will was proven in August Term 1847.
