Biography

Unsourced child Elizabeth born 1804

When George Washington Compton was born in 1775 in Culpeper, Virginia, his father, Zachariah, was 36 and his mother, Mary, was 40. He married Sarah Duke and they had one daughter together. He also had one daughter from another relationship. He died on January 1, 1824, in Culpeper, Virginia, at the age of 49, and was buried in Virginia.


1805: Culpeper Co, Virginia Deed Book AA page 215: William Duke and Mary, his wife, to George Compton, a certain tract of land whereon said Compton now lives, beginning at corner to Richard Duke... to Thornton's back line, containing 100 acres more or less.
