Robert Compton was baptised on 29 Sep 1861 at Christian Malford, Wiltshire, son of Joseph and Eliza of Avon.[3]
Robert Compton age 23, bachelor of Draycot, Groom, married Emily Pullen age 22, spinster of Hilperton, Domestic Servant, on 18 Oct 1883 at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Father's name was Joseph Compton, Agricultural Labourer.[4]

Robert Compton died on 08 Dec 1918 at Seagry, Wiltshire.[9] The Seagry Parish Register entry for his burial age 57, has a date of 13 Nov 1918.[10] However, the entry appears to be out of sequence for a November date and it is presumed that the burial was on 13 Dec 1918.
