Philip COMPTON, for the Revolutionary War, recruited 42 men in Culpeper County, Virginia. He obtained land grants in Nelson County, Kentucky in 1796 - one for 2000 acres and one for 326 acres for 3 years service in the Continental Line.He also obtained grants in Green (1796) and Hardin (1796) Counties, Kentucky and, in 1798, a further grant in Nelson County.
