Hannah, 62, born NY. 2 1870: Keene, Ionia Cty, MI, pg 24/496R (enumerated 13 Aug 1870). David Compton, 73, farmer, 8000 real estate, 250 personal property, born NJ;. Hannah, 72, born NY. 2


2 David fought in the War of 1812 with the 42nd US infantry. He worked as a farmer and shoemaker. In 1860 he was living with his wife in Orange Twp., Ionia County, MI. Check out Bounty Land Claim. 2 Declaration for Pension - War of 1812 - 22 May 1871 David appeared before Judge of Probate stating the following: age 73 on Dec 1, 1870. resident of Keene Twp, Ionia Cty, State of Michigan. wife's name Miss Hannah Elyea. married Frankfort, Sussex Cty, New Jersey 10 Feb 1821. David was a Private in Captain John Biddle's Company in the 42nd Regiment of US Infantry. Enlisted at Goshen, Orange Cty, NY in January or February 1814. Honorably discharged at the Narrows on Long Island 24 May 1815. Capt James Wordsworth & Lt. Vance were his company officers at enlistment. 2 see notes for Hannah regarding information from Claim of Widow for Service Pension. Hannah describes David at the time of his enlistment viz: 16 years old with dark blue eyes, brown hair, height after growth 5 ft 10 inches, light complexion. 2 Land transaction - see Compton notebook for transaction between Catherine Crane and David Compton.
