He married Sarah Fleming on 10 March 1820 in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Joshua Hickman in Monongalia County, (West) Virginia.[2]
After Sarah died, John took Hannah Randall as his second wife on 3 September 1835 in Harrison County in a ceremony performed by Joshua Hawkins.[3]
John on 15 October 1868, and he is buried in the Conaway Cemetery in Fairmont, Marion County.[4]
