↑ According to his death record, Amos was fifty-one when he died in 1852. The 1850 census implies that he was born circa 1796, and the 1830 and 1840 schedules indicate that he was born in the decade of the 1790s. Amos's father Jeremiah had already settled in Ohio when he was among the men who petitioned Congress on 20 February 1801 for pre-emption rights to land they had already settled and improved between the "Waters of Muskingum, and Sciota River." Jeremiah was taxed in Fairfield County as early as 1806.
