Biography

WILL OF JONATHAN CONGER In the name of God, amen, 2nd day of March in the year of our Lord Christ, One thousand seven hundred and seventy nine, 1779, I, Johnathan Conger of Woodbridge, in the county of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, being ver sick and weak in body but perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given to God, therefore calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Med once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, and for my body I recomment it to the Earth to be buried in a Christaian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting, but at gerneral Resurrection I shall receive the sme by the might power of God, and as touching such worldly estate where-with it hath pleased God, to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Mary Teilar, wife of Richard Teilar, the sum of fifty (50) pounds. Item I: I give to my well beloved Daugher-in-law Mary Conger, widow of my son David Conger, deceased, a sum of twenty pounds, each legacy to be paid as soon after my decease as conveniently can be of good current proclimation Noney, and further my will is that my aforesaid Daugher Mary Conger have liberty to remove her house off my land when she shall see fit and further my will is that as soon after my deceas as conventiently can be, that the whole of my land and Salt Meadow, together with the whole of my moveables, be sold by my executors hereafter named, and all my just debts and funeral charges, together with the above legacies, be paid out of the same, and that the remainder of the monies arising as the aforesaid be equally devided between my tow sons, John Conger and Jonathan Conger, shar and share alike. And further my will and pleasure is that my beloved wife, Ann Conger, shall be comfortably supported with every necessry of life by my aforesaid two sons, equally alike in the expense, and lastly I constiture, make and ordain my well beloved son John Conger, and my treasured frien James Manning, as my only and sole executors of this my last will and testament, and I do hereby utterly dis-allow, revoke and dis-annull all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies, and executors by me in any ways before this time named. Willed and bequeathed ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year before written. Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said Jonathan Conger, as his last will and testament, in the presence of us the subscribers.
