Hi Debbie,

I have removed the parents of William Furber (abt.1614-1694) because there are no sources showing them, and because his origins are listed as Unknown by Anderson in The Great Migration.... When working with project-managed profiles, as William Furber's is, it is very important to collaborate in advance with the project managing the profile, in this case, the Puritan Great Migration project. Thank you.

Re: the changes you have made to William Furber (abt.1614-1694);

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is a gentle reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz.

For pre-1700 profiles, we require more rigorous sources. (See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Reliable_Sources_for_Pre-1700_Profiles.) Those sources must be added at the time that you create the profile.

If you need help with this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.

Best wishes on your searches, Deb

Hi Debbie,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hey Debbie,

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Welcome! Mags

Hi Debbie,

If you just want to find out more about your family tree, you don’t need to Volunteer. You are more than welcome to browse. You can click on ‘People Search’ under Find in the upper right hand corner and see if any of your family is already part of our tree. You can also ask questions in our G2G forum.

However, if you are looking forward to adding your own research and contributing to our collaborative worldwide family tree, please leave us another message to that effect and we will be happy to make you a full member.

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Debbie!

Welcome to WikiTree, and thank you for your interest.

If you just want to look things up, or upload a GEDCOM for match, you do not need to take further actions.

If you want to contribute to WikiTree (add profiles, collaborate etc.), you must sign up as a volunteer. Doing so I will ask you to tell a little about your plans on your profile page. Do not volunteer unless you plan to contribute please!

After volunteering you can sign the HONOR CODE. You'll then become a full member and can help grow WikiTree through participation in the community. WikiTree also have MENTORS in case you need guidance.
