"Betty Ellen Leibering, 81, of Lamar passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Scenic Hills Care Center of Ferdinand, Indiana.
Betty Ellen was born in Lamar, on Oct. 2, 1934, to Omer and Marguerite (VanWinkle) Conner.
She was an active member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Lamar. She was involved in the Women's Guild, Choir, and had taught Sunday school for many years. Betty was a member of the Santa Claus Optimist Club. She retired from the cafeteria at Heritage Hills High School after 28 ½ years of service. She enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lloyd Leibering; father, Omer Conner; mother, Marguerite White; stepfather, Noah White; granddaughter, Brooklyn Harpenau; brothers, Rex Conner and Max Conner.
Betty is survived by her children, Cheryl Dawn (Todd) Arnold of Lamar; Daryl Fawn (Brad) Mulzer and her husband of Lamar; Lana Lea (Jeff) Harpenau of Santa Claus; grandchildren, Cody Arnold, Brenna Arnold, Caitlin Lubbehusen, Derek Mulzer, Blake Harpenau, Beau Harpenau; sister, Faye Davis of Tell City; many extended family and friends.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Lamar with Rev. Paul Jahn officiating. Burial is in St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home, Youngblood Chapel at 36 E. Market St. Chrisney, IN 47611 and from 10 a.m. to the time of service Monday at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
