I was about 12 when great-grandma Willoughby died, I can remember that I wore white gym shoes. The funeral was at Grandma's house and the Matt Willoughby cemetery is just up the hill there. I do remember my mom and aunt Florence were out below our barn shucking corn and then we got everything ready and had her funeral. They took care of her body at home, didn't take her to a funeral home or anything.
I do remember one time we were at great-grandma's house and we were having church there. I was in the kitchen with kids playing and I looked up and saw Fanny Conkwright sitting in my mothers lap. That is When my Jealousy showed through, I screamed like a wildcat.
She was always at grandma's house when all the family would come to eat on Sunday. She had 2 big dogs and she brought her dogs. We had a bench on the side of the table instead of chairs, she would feed those dogs off of her plate. She was nice but old when I knew her but she loved her dogs and was always sitting with them. She lived in a little house along side of the hill in-between where grandma (Dora Willoughby) lived and Ware Chappel road. It was a little log house I think it only had 2 rooms. The living room and bed room was all the same back then because the fire place was our only source of heat.
