Biography

Simon was born in 1804. He married Margaret Harbridge in 1828. They had twelve children, born between 1829 and 1859.

In 1850, the Conner family lived in Blacklick, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. All members of the household were born in Pennsylvania. The family included Simon Conner, 40, a laborer, with $240 in assets; his wife Margaret, 40; their children, Levi, 17, a laborer; Robert, 16, a laborer; Margaret, 13; William, 12; Harrison, 11; Simon, 7; and Anna J., 1.^[1]

In 1860, the Conners lived in Montgomery Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. All members of the household were born in Pennsylvania. The household included Simon Conner, 53, a farmer, with $300 in personal estate; his wife Margaret, 54; William, 21, farm laborer; Harrison, 19, farm laborer; Petts (Simon Peter), 15, farm laborer, and in school; Anna J., 11, in school; and Nancy E., 8, in school. Also, Mary Conner (Simon Sr.’s mother), 99, who could not read or write; and Anna Z. Conner (uncertain relation), 2.^[2]

This Civil War record is linked (on a familysearch Family Tree) to Simon Conner (Sr.), but it is more likely that of his son, Simon P. Conner (Jr.): Private Simon P. Conner served during the Civil War with the 206th Pennsylvania Infantry.^{[3] [4][5]}

In 1870, the Conner family lived in Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania. The family included Simon Conner, 64, a farm laborer, with $350 in real estate and $200 in personal estate; his wife Margaret, 65 neither could write; their children, all born in Pennsylvania, Anna, 21; Nancy, 17, in school; and William, 11. Living nearby was Simon and Margaret’s son, Simon P. Conner, 23, his wife and son.^[6]

In 1880, the Conners live in Montgomery, Pennsylvania. All members of the household were born in Pennsylvania, as were their parents. The household included Simon Conner, 76, a farmer; his wife Margaret, 76; and their grandson, William J. Croyle, 11, in school.^[7]

Simon passed away in 1884 in Cush Creek, Pennsylvania. He was 79. Simon is buried with his wife Margaret at East Mahooning Cemetery, Purchase Line, Pennsylvania.^[8]
