Notes

This profile was originally imported as a child of Peter Constable. Peter now has a daughter Edith attached with similar dates, but neither that Edith or this one have a sources. Since this profile has no information that is likely to lead to it being connected I am proposing it be merged. Hampson-204 03:23, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

In 41 Henry III (1256), Maud, the widow of Geffrey Constable son of Peter and Isabel, was married to Jeffrey de Burnville. On the death of Geffrey Constable his sisters and heirs were Isabel, Alice and Edith, about 18 Henry III (1235).[1]

Alice married Robert de Cockfeld; Isabel married Adam de Cockfeld; and Edith married firstly Sir Thomas Estle (Astley) and secondly Robert Holywell.[2] Thomas Astley

Later in the section on Melton Constable Blomefield quotes from the register of Castleacre:

"Peter de Meautun Constable, son and heir of Sir Peter de Meauton, and Dame Alice de Warren, his mother, bound himself to pay in performance of his mother's will to the monks of Castleacre at Easter 40d. and at Michaelmas 40d.—Dated at Castleacre 15th of the calends of February, 1228"

and goes on to say:

"By these deeds it appears that Sir Peter de Mealtun married Alice, a daughter of the Earl Warren, and had by her Sir Jeff. who dying without issue, was succeeded by Peter his brother, which Peter was father (as I conceive) of Geff. and of his three sisters and coheirs."

Constable-302 and Constable-128 appear to represent the same person because: Constable-128 was the daughter originally attached to Constable-127. Clearly these were intended to be the same person. The dates are slightly different, but there are no sources to support either. The profile details for the father are also suspect and it may be that this father-daughter pair may be the pair known in an earlier generation. That prospect requires more research.
