Biography

Anne Cook was born circa 1843 in Ireland, probably in County Sligo. She was the daughter of Thomas Cook, a farmer.

On 15 Apr 1861 in Easkey, County Sligo, Anne married Isaac Mcguire. He was a farm labourer living in Fortland. Their witnesses were William Cuff and Joseph Minchin[1].

Shortly after their marriage, Isaac and Anne immigrated from Sligo to New York City. All their children were born here.

Children of Isaac Mcguire and Anne Cook:

Hugh B. 15 Sep 1862 [2]

Mary Anne B. 8 Feb 1864 [3]

Isaac B. 1866

George B. 1869

Sarah B. 4 May 1876 [4]

Thomas B. 1878

In 1870, Anne (27) lived in New York City with her husband Isaac (30) and children Mary (6), Isaac (4) and George (1). William McGuire (20), an American with Irish parents, was staying with them. He was possibly a cousin of Isaac. Isaac was a clergyman while Anne was a housekeeper[5].

Anne died on 18 Nov 1879 in Manhattan. She was buried on 21 Nov in Calvary Cemetery[6].
